| Orphanage Program- 2007
It’s
a bit daunting at the first as I came over on my own, then
realized that there be no other volunteers from CCSV-Nepal
at my placement. But all of this just meant, I was able to
find out things myself and help a lot improve my confidence.
The training orientation help me settle in as we’re
not only learned nepali language and went sight seeing but
we’re introduce to some food and general Nepalese costumes
we would not have otherwise known. At my placement seeing
the children faces when I help & taught them and when
I give them present and praise of encouragement is very satisfying.
Also getting to know the area of myself gave me a sense of
independence. The CCSV-Nepal staff is very friendly, and could
easily approach with questions and problems. I am very glad
I went to CCSV-Nepal as it gave me a safety net if things
went wrong.

| Teach English & Orphanage – 2007
Teaching
Children English & arts and learning about Nepali Culture/language,
working successfully with the kids at the orphanage and seeing
them enjoy and happy is the best accomplishment I had in my
volunteer travel experience. Riding with motorbikes to sight
seeing was great! It made the experience even better. We were
able to see more in less time and weave around pedestrian
areas. CCSV-Nepal staff was very helpful in providing information
and helping especially when beginnings . I found the food
and accommodation has been very pleasant and comforting. I
enjoyed my volunteer placement and hope to visit with you
again.

| Health & Education/ Orphanage Program- 2007
I
felt I had a positive impact with the children and staff in
the orphanage that I was working with. As well as the taught
that I leave in the woman in Chobhar, regarding Health &
Sanitation. I am taken care off and I felt that my opinions
are listened. My volunteer experience with CCSV-Nepal was
very fulfilling, moving , inspiring & fun. Knowing that
when I go home I can still continue helping CCSV , the people
in Nepal and the Orphanage.

Teaching English –2007
Nepal
is a country that radiates kindness, family and friend orientation
like nowhere I’ve seen. It opened my eyes more than
what I expected, I thought it would be a simple 3 months and
easy to leave, but not.
I felt my teaching had an impact, having the student speak
better English, being there seemed to be an eye opening for
the children in the Government school. I was teaching having
the student understand me. the team was very supportive towards
me and I was grateful the experience was truly amazing that
left me wanting to return and help more.

| Orphanage Program-2006 Arriving
in a country that you haven’t visited before is always
for me a quite daunting experience, so knowing that from the
moment I stepped of the plane I’d be looked after made
the whole experience so much nicer.
I have been looked after very well by CCSV-Nepal and appreciate
their checking up on me to make sure I was okay and of course
helping me when I needed.
The orphanage placement fully exceeded my expectations, the
children were wonderful, respectful, helpful, kind and affectionate
plus a million other things. Ama was extremely kind and caring
and made the orphanage my home away from home. I definitely
will come back in the future and am happy to leave knowing
that the children have a wonderful home with a mum that really
loves and cares for them.
Thank You

| Health & Education Program-2006 I
just wanted to let you know that I had the most amazing time
of my life in Kathmandu Nepal. At first I got there feeling
pretty tired and confused, but the Staff were so kind and
generous from the very beginning. I'm really glad I stayed
with a host family because it was so amazing to witness and
experience the Nepali way of life. It taught me so many things
and will be a part of my life that I will never forget. I
got some really good hands on medical experience that I could
never have got at home and made some really good friends among
the staff. I didn’t really know what to expect before I went,
but it was definitely very worthwhile. I have also spent 2
days helping with the other volunteer doing Orphanage Program
to give MMR vaccination to the kids. I spent a few hours each
day walking from Orphanage to Orphanage in the valley to do
health check up. I actually administered the Vaccine, which
was a really good experience, although many of the children
were a bit upset about it! And some volunteers gave them candies
to cheer up. I think that was the most fascinating 2 days
I've ever had. I want to thank CCSV-Nepal
Staff for organizing everything; I just had such an amazing
time.

| Environmental Awareness program-2006 Since
finishing high school I researched numerous volunteer organizations
and projects. I wanted to integrate my personal goal of traveling
while doing something to give back to the country & people
I was visiting. I left my home in San Francisco on July 28th
at about 12:00am PST. I haven't been able to get in touch
with home yet. After nearly 24 hours of flight time and about
8 hours of waiting, I am a tired traveler, but when I saw
the man holding my name outside the airport I thought this
is it! I remember Salve’s told me to looked for the sign with
my mane on it. The guest house representative took me to the
hotel, there I meet CCSV-Nepal
staff and all things goes fine. The CCSV-Nepal
volunteer program/ Project was the perfect choice for me because
it was a well-organized project with clear objectives of doing
environmental assessments while working with local Nepalese.
The fabulous guides and the lovely host family who I spent
my four weeks with enriched my experience on the Annapurna
Conservation project. I returned to San Francisco feeling
satisfied, overwhelmed and excited to share what I have seen
and learned in the most beautiful country I have had the pleasure
of visiting."

Teaching English Program - 2006
Think
of everything that you imagine you are going to learn, see,
encounter, and teach on the project and magnify that hundred
times…there's your experience in reality. It was incredible.
The project opened a whole new door that I never knew was there."
I enjoyed the interaction between staff and volunteers and meeting
with families in the village. I also enjoyed staying with host
families who were so good to me. There is no way to express
how much I enjoyed and learned on this trip. It will forever
impact on how I look at the rest of the world. Hopefully I can
continue in some small way to make a difference whether it be
in my own family, community or the world."
Looking back on my travels, after spending almost 7 weeks in
Nepal I am sorry to leave this friendly country with its friendly
people, fascinating mountains and excellent cuisine. I had some
concerns about the safety before I arrived but it turned out
quickly that press exaggerated the situation. I have never experienced
hostility towards foreigners, quite the opposite; everybody
was very friendly and helpful. My seven weeks has gone very
quickly, I am busy with teaching English in the local private
school. I contacted CCSV-Nepal
through the Internet and they put together a complete seven
weeks program for me: organized teaching opportunities, Nepali
language courses, a lecture about the caste system and sightseeing
in Kathmandu. I stayed in a house with a local family and it
was a great experience and get close to the real life of a Nepali
family and children. If anyone got excited about such experience,
don't hesitate to contact CCSV-Nepal
at ccsvnepal@wlink.com.np
or visit the site www.ccsvnepal.org.np
will professionally organize any kind of volunteer work for
any period of time.

Orphanage & Teaching English Program
– 2005 I
really enjoyed interacting with the children in the orphanage.
They were all so responsive despite of the language barrier
and I really felt like I’m making a difference to them. I gained
a lot of practical experience and also learnt different ways
of communicating. I'm very well and thoroughly enjoying the
program. I spent the first half of the placement in the orphanage,
(6 weeks) and I shift to Teach English in the near by Government
School. I thought Class 3, 5 & 6 at Adinath Chobhar School,
for 5.5 hours every day, Monday to Friday. This was really good
fun, and very rewarding even though it takes a long time for
the children to learn! The highlight of the placement is in
the evening where I meet the local Nepalese woman, they thought
me how to dress the Nepali custom “Saree” we Dance and Sing,
and sometimes they interviewed me about what my country look
like, my family, my culture back home. I really had a great
time interacting with the villager even though there are several
times we don’t understand each other. "This is so much
more than just a trip. This is the beginning of what I want
to do with the rest of my life!"
Thank you.
